Whole New World
I've decided that the news media are the actual terrorists. What's going to happen is going to happen, regardless of how much they cover it 24-7. Being cautious and informed is one thing, but being terrorized by continuous coverage of heresay and common sense is just plain annoying and damaging. To say the least.
This morning I was getting my bagel and coffee, and a Pepsi delivery man came running into the deli asking "is this anyone's truck?" I got my stuff, headed to my office, and on the way saw a large water cooler delivery truck, halfway turned off of 5th Ave, driver door hanging open, no one anyhwere to be found. It had been like that for 5 minutes at least. And I stood there for another five. Clearly freaking out about potentially being blown up, but of course just standing there, with nothing between me and the truck, waiting for it to happen. By the time I got upstairs to my office, the truck was gone. But it was a sobering reminder of, well, I was going to say our "new reality," but it's not really a new reality. It's the same reality. I guess the difference is that we're now forced to face it?
