Detox Begins
I just spent the past 6 hours cooking for the week ahead. The time has come, the time is now (Marvin K. Mooney, Will You Please Go Now) for me to get my butt in gear. I did this program in the fall of 2001, and it rocked and lead the way to me losing 30 lbs. The eating habits I change stayed with my for a good year or so after the "program" was complete, and I really felt good. The past couple years I've totally not been eating well, and not only do the clothes I bought back then no longer fit, but I just don't feel as good.
So, tomorrow I start the 28-day detox. And oh the things I've been eating ever since I ordered the powder stuff on Tuesday. Pizza, hot dogs, ice cream, pasta, beer - knowing that I would say goodbye to them - some of them, possibly, forever.
Following are some of the things I am not allowed for the next 28 days
- Anything w/ refined sugar (white, brown), corn syrup, honey
- Citrus
- Corn
- Anything w/ wheat, rye or gluten
- Anything soy
- Peanuts
- Red meat, cold cuts, eggs, shellfish
- Any dairy
- Any butter type product
- Soda, alcohol, coffee, tea (w/ caffeine)
- Chocolate, ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, soy sauce, etc.
Exactly.
Oh, and Dinner Club trip to Fast Eddie's Bon Air and my company's annual golf outing will both fall within my 28 days. F. Y. Friggin' I.
Last time we started at 178, this time we start at 166. Ready . . . GO!

I'd love to join you in this (want to lose 10-12 lbs.) but certainly haven't the will power. I'll give up red meat, chocolate, peanuts, eggs, and butter with ya, though :-)
What's wrong with soy? Works to lower one's cholesterol and has protein galore.
Fast Eddie's may kill your will to live. You just might have to cheat.

The whole point of the program is to eliminate any foods one might be potentially allergic to, so soybeans are on the list. And I'm pretty sure I do have a reaction to soy, so while it means switching to Rice Milk (one day when I have somethingt to pour it over), if I feel better, I'm ok with it.

yeah - you have to get it through a vendor. I just googled Metagenics (the folks who make it) and used the first link that came up.
Some clarification - a few peeps have emailed me offline (which, theoretically would be impossible, b/c you have to be online to email, but you know what I mean) about doing this program. So for all those considering it who I didn't get a chance to tell, I did this program the first time under the direction of a nutritionist. She did a medical history and knew all my issues, etc. So, just a disclaimer :)
