Late Night UPN
Thank goodness for my brother-in-law for many reasons, but most recently for introducing me to the late night UPN show Cheaters. From its host, Joey Graco (Dr. Phil wannabe meets Jerry Springer meets the Fab 5) to the positively sad couples it deals with, it is worth every moment of the DVR space/VHS tape it takes to capture it (b/c unless you're an onsomniac, odds are you will only catch it by setting a timer).
It's a "reality" show where people contact them with the suspicion that their mate is cheating. The show hires detectives to catch them in the act, then they stage a surprise confrontation that they catch live on film. And the fireworks fly.
Please please please visit the website linked above, find out when it comes on in your area and experience the magic that is, Cheaters.

Karyn's Back - Whoo hoo!!!
This week, the midwest gained a major asset, Mr. and Mrs. Chad and Karyn Fowler (AKA, Lima and mini-hot)!!! We promptly went midwest all up on Karyn's ass with a night out in downtown Alton. Not only was it a kickin' Sat night, it was a block-party Saturday, and I would like to go ahead and say that 3rd street was rivaling the French Quarter right around 9pm. We huddled inside at Morales Ole! Taco, the best tacos in the world, awaiting Karaoke. Unfortunately, their Karaoke book has apparently reverted back to week 1 of existance b/c it was LAME. Songs we sang last time we were there were nowhere to be found. Karaoke basics - missing.
Despite the Karaoke disappointment, a good time was had by all, Nichol mysteriously disappeared for what we believe was a good time, and we're all happy to have Karyn back in the hizzie!!!

End of Week Wisdom
If you are the chief cook and bottle washer, then you should know everything there is to know about cooking and bottle washing. Do not have me hand you a bottle and then ask me how to fill it up.
Dwayne would like to add to that: Problem solve, people. Problem solve.
TGIF.

Lest We Forget
He can be a bit much, I don't always agree and my boyfriend hates him, but Bill Maher's New Rules almost always make me laugh out loud at least 3 times.

One Day, I'll Get Over It. Well, Probably NOT.
Broadway is Sizzling says this NYT's graphic.
1 . The fact that Lion King is still at over 100% - brilliance
2. The fact that Mamma Mia is over 100% - appalling
3. The fact that Putnam is over 100% - intersting, but yay for Nina, Ed and Curly
and last, but certainly not least
4. The fact that Phantom is at 100% - Lord save us ALL. However, kudos to the marketing folks and/or wow, is there really nothing else to see/that you can get tickets for???

World Wide Web Weight Watchers is Back in Full Effect
Bust: 38 7/8ths (+1)
Waist: 34 7/8ths (+1 3/8ths)
Hips: 42 (+.5)
Thigh: 25.5 (same)
Scale's tipping at 165.5
This is all after almost a solid month of travelling, not exercising, female hormone trickery, eating what I want and high stress levels. And I _just_ got home from having Pantera's and 2 beers. So I suppose it could be worse. Much worse.
I'm on the horse again though. Monday morning my sister and I played an hour of tennis, Monday night I played volleyball, Tuesday morning I walked for an hour, and tonight I walked for about 45 minutes. And now I must hit the bed so that I can walk tomorrow morning.

Arm Feels Numb Indeed
How brilliantly evil of the folks at 6 Feet Under to NOT show us scenes from next week. Cameron, in his true fashion, stopped the playback before the previews, and we fast forwarded through the entire episode only to discover that we have been DENIED.
My vote is that Nate is dead dead dead.

As much as it goes against everything I think is worthwhile, I CAN'T STOP LOOKING AT THE CRUISE CRAZY PARADE.
What's wrong with me?

Zoom Zoom Zoom
Tonight I had volleyball (we won 3 out of 3 - and we only had 4 players! Though they had beer on the court, so perhaps that had something to do with it...) and on my way home I stopped at Schnuck's, then headed to Kohl's to see if they had any more of my Nike flip flops. $130 dollars and no flip flops later, I headed to the car, put my stuff in the truck, and headed the what - 2 or 3 miles home?
I pull into the garage, and go to grab my phone and get out of the car. No phone. Not on the dash, not in the cup holder, not in my purse... crap. I carried my wallet and phone in both stores instead of taking my whole purse - did I... sure enough, I get out of the car, and there's my PHONE, sitting on top of the car. Go LG and your rubber footy thingys. So my wallet must have been on top of my phone. I immediately head back to the Kohl's parking lot, where I find... my wallet.
Lord live empty Monday night parking lots in the midwest.

Whew. It's HOT
Cubs were in town all weekend. Years ago I was a RAGING Cubs fan. I think I was going through a phase where I just wanted to be onery (oh wait, is that phase over?).
I had tickets to all three games, however it was so friggin' HOT that I only went last night.
It was too hot to drink beer (though Aaron would beg to differ), but it was just right for ice cream. Though it did melt faster than I could eat it.
It was an exciting game with much action and suspense, even though we lost. Pauvre Cardinals.
You're not going to believe this. Though we got home at 11:30 and I didn't get into bed until 12:30, Kira and I got up this morning at 5:45am to play tennis. In our now ongoing game (we played two Sundays ago as well), I'm now up 6-4, 6-4.

It's Raining Babies!
Where the heck have I been? Texas, then back at work, which was just as insane as when I left, and then it got more insane, and now I am in Austin.
How many times can we learn the same lesson. How can we know and yet still live like we DO NOT KNOW. Humanity astounds me.
Anyway, thank god for babies, b/c that whole generation of life thing is pretty damn grounding.
My high school friend Reb had Morgan. Then my childhood friend Rae (Anne) had Hunter, then my college friend Catherine had Gus AND Charlie, then my friends Gabriel and Britt had Brecken.
Congrats to all, and thank god for babies. As Czajka says, "the happiest days are when babies come!"
Though I'm sure that's a quote from Gone With the Wind or North and South or something.

Eggnog Ice Cream
Every year during the holidays when they sell eggnog ice cream for 5 minutes, we hoard it. My parents are hosting bridge, and I got to mooch off of their dinner which included pasta with a cream sauce. I figured since my stomach was already a mess from that, I might as well have some eggnog. When I went to get it (in the basement), I noticed that the "Best if sold by date" is none other than today.
What a sign.

Vaca
Hey all.
I'm on vaca, so I probably will not post much over the next week. As I didn't last week b/c I was preparing to go on/starting my vacation.
Cameron and I drove down to his home town, San Angelo, TX on Wed/Thurs. We've been hanging with his family, eating good food and having a great time. We just got back from a jaunt to Mexico (yes, I survived). For all those who asked where in Mexico and I had no idea, it was Acuna, just across the boarder from Del Rio, TX. Many highlights include a "Disney Store" with about 30 items in it, maybe none of them actually Disney.
I head to NYC on Thursday for Kathi's wedding, where a whole new type of madness will ensue.

More tales from Czajka
Hello all---
Just had to share this. . .it made a large and lasting impression on me.
This morning, my commute was interrupted by a sudden and unexpected
concert from a large and fragrant homeless derelict. Despite the fact
that it's hotter than an oven here, said derelict was dressed as though
he had just jumped off his snowmoblile and hopped into the subway to woo
us with ballads and songs of love. This is what he sang (and I wrote it down soon after hearing it):
Feelings,
Nothing more than feelings.
Whoa-oh-oh, feelings.I need some chicken.
Where is my chicken?
I got feelings for chicken.
Want to bite off it's head.Feelings,
Whoa-oh-oh, feelings.
Love my McNuggets,
And my frozen dinner too.Where is my chicken?
I want some chicken.(Insert "Feelings" riff on filthy harmonica here.)
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way.
Feelings.
Chicken.I need to get to Brooklyn.
But that ain't happening.
I got no chicken.
I got no feelings.Y'all go to hellllllll!
_____________________________________________________And then he panhandled.
And then I gave him two dollars.
And then he sang the entire thing, verbatim, again.Hand that man an Emmy, sir.
