Grandfather Update
Stopped by my grandfather's on the way home today and he was almost back to normal. Hopefully, the last week was his system getting used to the meds and is a thing of the past... we can hope.

American Idol, Season 5, Girls round 2
Katherine McPhee - LEAVE STEVIE ALONE
Kinnik Sky - Mad at the black girls singin' rock and country b/c that's supposed to be my niche. Someday. Hardly. I mean, even now when I do it in Karaoke bars, it will be less original. Posers.
Lisa Tucker - Again. I maintain. Little Michael sings little Michael. And ONLY Little Michael. Dammit. and dude, what is she wearing? Hello 1982.
Melissa McGhee - um, ok.
Heather Cox - NICE BELT. Karaoke. See Little Michael above.
Brenna Gethers - tonight she's black. What's going on. Or is she black? What? And get that dress off of her.
Paris Bennett - What happened in the wardrobe room. This is one of those songs that you think might be great to sing, but then in the end, just let Bette sing it. Or perhaps just keep it in the shower.
[Somebody put the Bucky away]
Ayla Brown - Totally what Simon said.
Kellie Pickler - watch the hair in the lipstick
Mandisa - that's a lot of yelling. But good yelling I suppose. ish.

Let Me Just Say
Let me just say, out loud right here in public, that I have been blessed with the bestest boyfriend in the entire world.
Let me also say that I've been on hold with the Walgreen's pharmacy for 10 mintutes. This needs to end NOW.
Let me also say how sad I am about my grandfather. As some of you know, his being diagnosed with bladder cancer and consequently having to have his bladder removed (not before they realized he needed a triple bypass), was part of my decision to move back home. It's been great being here with my mom as she deals with everything (it's her father). Well, now it's been discovered that the cancer's in his bones - in his hip and right leg. Last week he started morphine and some other medications and in five weeks he begins radiation (no chemo yet). The medication has really had an effect on him. I really feel as though the man I knew may never make an appearance again. Which is lame. But as Rafiki would say, the circle of life. Feh on the circle of life.

Same Day Delivery
Same day delivery is no joke.
As I stood in the long line at Borders today, with a whining girl behind me and a woman popping gum while answerering her cell phone (which rang on LOUD, mind you), I longed for the days when I could order from bn.com before noon and have the book delivered to my office before I headed out at 5pm - FOR NO DELIVERY CHARGE.
Some things, I tell you, NYC has in spades.

American Idol Top 12 Men
I missed the girls last night but caught the highlight replay on the boys show tonight. And luckily Whirled got 'em. I seriously can't watch these shows live. Being able to fast forward through 80% of the show is an absolute must. That said...
Patrick Hall - who are those "friends?"
David Radford - No more crooners. Why do they keep doing this to America? um, hi. It's called vibrato, not fast action gnawing.
Bucky Covington - ??? I don't even have anything to say here.
Will Makor - when will we EVER LEARN. NO ONE CAN SING LITTLE MICHAEL EXCEPT LITTLE MICHAEL. Leave that stuff alone.
Sway - Note to Sway's dad: 2 and the 4, honey, TWO AND THE FOUR
Chris Daughtry - YOU ARE MY AMERICAN IDOL. Give him the winnings now. Do not make us sit through this sham of a competition. I just threw my underwear at the television.
Kevin Covais - I was ready to rip on him before he even opened his mouth, but then - DAMN. Good try. No, really. There were some note sin there that made me want to throw my shoe (in a good way - but not my underwear. Just the shoe).
Gedeon McKinney - note that I said BEFORE Simen "what is up with that smile?? But he brought it indeed. Very polished.
Elliott Yamin - man, we got a COMP-O-TISH-SHYON. He's a little funny on the eyes, but this. boy. can. sing. And what a great song choice.
Bobby Bennett - oh, honey...
Taylor Hicks - I don't know how long this is going to go on. But I for one feel like he's almost in a minstrel show.
Ace - Ace
This is so the guys' competition. Though Randy maybe just needs to STOP TALKING.

Not Opposed to the Party Bus
Saturday night was a bachelorette party for my friend Melissa, with whom I worked at RT. Her bridesmaids did a bang-up job, starting the day with a luncheon, followed by a shower, then dinner, and ultimately, a ride around town in a Party Bus.
Now, I somehow have reached year 31 without ever having experienced the Party Bus. I must say, that in the end, I am not opposed to the party bus. Especially when Bob is driving and there's been a Mix CD made with the Party Bus specifically in mind. Please do not forget to listen to the clips of us singing along to choice songs on said mix. There truly is nothing like a 21 person Kelly Clarkson singalong in a small enclosed (moving) space. Truly.

Kay Does Torino
Kay is tracking the commentary insanity going on in Torino and boy am I glad someone is.
I hope that Kay and Kristen and Michael and Czajka remember forever Lillihammer, and saying it so many times that it will never stop being funny.
Also, let's never forget what Hector Lugo says: "The women's long program is like the gay superbowl. Don't mess with that."

Teach That Old Dog
We're having sever thurderstorms and tornado warnings here in St. Louis right now. I'm sitting here, refreshing the screen on weather.com, for like a half an hour, until I realize, hello: I work at a TV station now. I have a TV sitting right in front of me.
Duh.

Gotta love him
I'm in bed, about to shut down my computer, and I can hear that my dad is flipping channels. He lands on a channel that for whatever reason has Peabo Bryson's "If Ever I'm In Your Arms Again." It stays. And I'm just waiting. Because I know it's coming. Sooner or later.
And there it is. He's singing along.

How Many NU Grads...
How many NU grads do you count in Olympic commercial land?
So far I'm up to 3, and I've only been watching (halfway) for an hour. Jeremy Johnson in a Chevy sponsorship commercial, Ryan Radditz in a Visa commercial, and Stephanie March in commercials for her new show airing in March. Ok, I lie. I haven't seen Stephanie's in my hour watching, but this is NBC, and eventually, during Olympic coverage, it will air.

Lipton Goes to Washington
My friend Dan Lipton recently performed at the White House. He blogged about it here, and parts of it nearly killed me.
In other news, I am exhausted. The past two nights, I've gotten enough sleep (in theory), but still woke up WHIPED. I also had extremely exhausting dreams. Two nights ago it was a haunted house all night, and last night I can't remember, but it was insane. This girl is TIRED.
Last night Cameron and I attended the MWAA Skippy Keefer Scholarship Awards dinner. May I just say that there are some really great athletes in the MWAA, and that it's a shame that ALL the leagues don't have an award and recognition ceremony like this one. Really, very, cool. It's a $1,000 sportsmanship award, and the girls had to have played at least 2 sports all 4 years of HS, and exhibited exemplary examples of sportsmanship. over 30 girls were nominated, and each nominee's accomplishments were read. Rock on, girls, rock on.
Tonight, I Diversity Awarenes event w/ some folks from KMOX.

MIA
I've been MIA for very good reasons that I couldn't even begin to write here, though if I did you would be thoroughly entertained so it's too bad.
The new season of AI continues to amuse, Lost is back in action this week, and the baby clydsdale commercial was my fave. The streaking goat commercial has already been erased permenantly from my memory.
Now, I must sleep.
