Just, sad.
A HS girl did a documentary on race, repeating the "doll test" done during the Brown v. Education case, finding out just how much hasn’t changed. view here.

Most of my dolls were black - maybe all of them, in fact. I think it was a rule... When Talking Baby Beans came out, they didn't make as many of the black ones, and our local toy store sold out before we could get there. I remember vividly not caring what color the doll was, I just wanted a Talking Baby Beans. And I said as much, though perhaps not articulating that seniment in the most accurate way. All I said was "I wish that I was white." Yeah. I remember being dragged out that store in a crying fit.
