Six weeks left? Really?

I've been about nine steps beyond bad about blogging. The recent excuse has less to do (directly at least) with the baby, and more to do with the fact that we decided to move before the baby comes. That meant getting the house in sell and show shape in a matter of days, lots of financial juggling, forecasting, approvals, etc. It just began to slow down about a week ago. Now I'm in "shut down" mode to get as much as possible in order before I disappear for the best thing ever :).

But back to the baby. I've decided the the BEST birth control and sex education for teenagers would be to somehow truly break down what this thing called pregnancy is all about. I mean, it is for REAL. And it gets more real every. Day. Sitting is hard. Standing is hard. Driving is hard. Eating is hard. Sleeping is hard. Breathing is hard. And I know that I don't even know how worth it is all going to be, so it's not like complaining, but it's just really really really real.

The real question is, can I really take all this reality for 6 more weeks?! :) Come on Li'l Poop - let's get on with this (strong and healthy) show!

Politics aside...

I wasn't really interested in watching the DNC coverage b/c after the Olympics and the coverage of the VP announcement on Saturday, I'm really kind of "talking-headed out." For real.

But Cameron wanted to watch Michelle's speech, so here I sit.

I have to admit, politics aside (which I do believe is possible), I'm pretty moved seeing a black woman up there at the center of all this hooplah, not talking about what she's owed, or what she's missing, or what she should have, but about things that an entired rainbow colored room full of people are rallied around. I kind of can't explain it if you don't get it. And I'm too hormonal to try :).

Now, what I don't like are the "isms" that she's throwing into her speech pattern. I mean, maybe they are natural. But they don't smell natural. Barack does the same thing times 10, and it almost has me at the point where I want to turn him off like I do Hillary. The basic purpose of these "isms" is to ride the fence between the fact that they naturally "talk white" but need to "spice it up" a little. I heard it constantly growing up in Jack and Jill, and employ it myself sometimes when necessary. It's annoying.

But conceptually, for me, this is kind of cool to watch - politics aside.

Lady in the Water

I love horror movies. I'll give almost any horror movie a chance. And even though M. Night FAILS again and again and most recently with the ridiculousness that was "The Happening," I Tivo-ed "Lady in the Water" to see just how bad it was.

Cameron is taping any and all Olympics, so I'm in a mode of watching everything possible on the Tivo to make room (only 21% available!). So here I sit watching "Lady in the Water" as I do thank you cards.

And you know, it ain't too bad. Maybe it's because I didn't pay and go sit in a movie theater to watch. Maybe it's because I'm multitasking. Maybe it's because my expectations were so low. Maybe it's because "The Happening" really was that bad.

I mean, it probably reads better as a script, and really on many levels is more of a study than a movie, but isn't that the M. Night way? Even with "The Happening," it was something other than a movie (a global warming PSA - wish he'd kept it at :30). I think the "Sixth Sense" was his only outright movie. And I bet if I watched it now I'd find the thesis.

Regardless: "Lady in the Water," not so bad.
