Nothing like a weekend @
Nothing like a weekend @ the beach with not an ounce of beach weather! Except, however, as a complete excuse to just BE AWAY. Which is always a good idea.

Quote of the day: "I'm going to be foster mom to 5 kittens. I'm naming them after The Jackson Five because there are five of them. And they are black. Mostly. The lightest one, I will name Michael. The most incompetent one, I will name Jermaine. And the one who catches everyone's eye the most, but who doesn't have any talent, I will call Tito"

I've decided that the news
I've decided that the news media are the actual terrorists. What's going to happen is going to happen, regardless of how much they cover it 24-7. Being cautious and informed is one thing, but being terrorized by continuous coverage of heresay and common sense is just plain annoying and damaging. To say the least.
This morning I was getting my bagel and coffee, and a Pepsi delivery man came running into the deli asking "is this anyone's truck?" I got my stuff, headed to my office, and on the way saw a large water cooler delivery truck, halfway turned off of 5th Ave, driver door hanging open, no one anyhwere to be found. It had been like that for 5 minutes at least. And I stood there for another five. Clearly freaking out about potentially being blown up, but of course just standing there, with nothing between me and the truck, waiting for it to happen. By the time I got upstairs to my office, the truck was gone. But it was a sobering reminder of, well, I was going to say our "new reality," but it's not really a new reality. It's the same reality. I guess the difference is that we're now forced to face it?

Damali Ayo created Rent-a-Negro.com which is at first hilarious, but then you realize is fo' real. This site/service is just one of the many "pieces" she has done. Very thought provoking and interesting stuff.
That is all.

Last night I went to
Last night I went to see Madea's Class Reunion at The Beacon. For those who don't know me, this means nothing. For those who do - right?!?! Let me tell you, it was the best time I've had in a theater in a long time. I would so much rather pay $33 to see something like that every day than pay $50 to see anything on Broadway right now. Entertaining, engaging, rockin', hilarious - and the audience was having such a great time. So worth my money. I never feel that way when I leave a Broadway show. Well, except for when I left Street Corner Symphony - but don't get me started...
